  • Role of the QHSSE Department 

The QHSSE Department is responsible for governing, implementing, and continuously improving Mwasalat’s QHSSE Management System across all operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • tick Establishing QHSSE policies, frameworks, and performance standards.
  •      tick Ensuring compliance with national laws, regulations, and permits.
  • tick Aligning operations with international management system standards.
  • tick Conducting risk assessments, inspections, and audits.
  • tick Investigating incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
  • tick Monitoring performance indicators and trends.
  • tick Driving safety culture through training, awareness, and leadership engagement.
  • tick Supporting innovation in safety, sustainability, and operational resilience.

The department works collaboratively with all business units to ensure QHSSE is embedded, measurable, and continuously improved.

 
 
  • Governance, Compliance and Standards
  • Mwasalat’s QHSSE Management System is structured to meet both regulatory obligations and internationally recognized standards, including:

    • tick ISO 9001 – Quality Management Systems.
    • tick ISO 45001 – Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems.
    • tick ISO 14001 – Environmental Management Systems.
    • tick UITP (International Association of Public Transport) best practices.
    • tick IMO ferry safety and maritime requirements.
